what does sarcasm cover? impatience? scorn? looking down on others? bitterness? people are sarcastic for a reason. don't try to fake that "oh, i've always been sarcastic.".. i know that better than anyone. how many times have i said that? i've lost count.... sarcasm's my forte. always has been.. wonder if it always will be? but i don't know why i'm so sarcastic.. perhaps part of the reason is cos of my mum? you'd have to live with her to understand.. i'm not really sure how to explain... or perhaps it's cos i love the english language as a whole and how you can twist, mutilate and rearrange the words to form different meanings? it intrigues me. which reminds me. since when has witticism became sarcasm? yeah i know they're similar.. even overlapping each other sometimes.. but there used to be a fine line separating one from the other.... now that line's blurred. gone. witticism has been replaced by sarcasm. ask a person what is sarcasm and he'll give you great examples - if he can't give you the definition. ask a person what is witticism and chances are that he'll just stare at you blankly - and go huh?? oh wells. |
